Leather Weather

I am soooo into a cropped Leather jacket. I just wish I could find one that wasn't $748.

Spoilt v2

I always thought the infamous Spoilt design by the equally infamous Oliver Moss was missing a very important spoiler; WARNING! SPOILER AHEAD!!! (lolz)

Aeris Dies.

This spoiler has a special place in my heart, for it was my first true experience with a spoiler. I played FFVII years after it came out (Zelda > FF in 1997 for me), so when I was reading the gamefaq message boards, I came across it on accident. I was bummed. I imagine it would have been a bigger moment for me had I not been so prepared when I got to the end of disc 1. So, in honor of this spoiler and in Aeris' memory, I removed the nod to Donnie Darko, and inserted, what is in my opinion, one of the biggest spoilers ever.

Be Kind Rewind

How cute, clever and silly does this movie look? I can't wait. Only problem is, I am going to have to watch all the movies they do in this again, in order to ensure that I get all the jokes. I hate when I miss a good joke due to ignorance. It is actually one of the guiding factors for me to learn about things... I just like to laugh that much.

Hello, my new loves.

I tripped over these shoes last night as I made my way into my room at 2:30 in the morning coming home from Disneyland... I had bought them a week earlier at UO online, for 70$ (down from $260!). It was a welcome fall, as I have put these shoes on, and I don't plan on ever taking them off. I think they may have surpassed my patchwork Kenzies to become instantly my favorite shoe. (Which is a good thing, because those shoes are two years old.) And how cute do they go with my new Posies dress from Anthro?

Does Harry Live or Die?

I am just saying it here, I think he's a horcrux, and therefore, he must die. I hope I am wrong... we'll find out this weekend.

New Crew for J.Crew

So, J.Crew still has this awesome dress, the Talitha patchwork dress. I must have caught it on the website about 3 months ago (maybe more), and I was stunned. I thought, wtf, when did J.Crew get amazingly innovative and interesting designs? I mean, they are known for their East Coast Resort-type feeling and high-quality basics, but now I feel there is a distinct feeling of quirkiness that may lead to a great fashion piece. I would buy this dress if it were half the price, I think--it is $495. And it won't be going on sale. It's probably worth almost 500$ just in fabric costs alone. >.>

Harry Potter and the Shortest Movie of the Longest Book.

I went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last night/this morning. It is really hard for me to do anything but point out the differences between the movie and the book; I need some more time to think about it. What I can say from a movie-only POV is that the opening scenes were well done, the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort was awesome, there was a disconnect in how Ginny, Luna and Neville knew about H.P. wanting to get to London, and hardly any of the teachers besides Umbridge (and maybe Snape) got any screen time. As far as omitting things from the book goes, I feel it could have used another 20 minutes (which would make it the same running time as Goblet of Fire, 158 minutes) to at least embellish things--particularly the conversation between Harry and Dumbledore at the end. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is 138 minutes long, and the book is 870 pages, compared to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, which is 152 minutes long, and the book is 208 pages long. I mean, come on... fans of Harry Potter only come in one form--die hard. We would probably sit through a 4 hour movie. Why cheapen the story just to make it shorter than all previous movies?

Pinback goes From Nothing to Nowhere

Pinback has released a new single From Nothing to Nowhere, from their album Autumn of the Seraphs, due for release 9/11/07. It is immediately hypnotic in a similar way as many Pinback (or even Optiganally Yours) songs are, with a distinctly dark feel.

Chocolate with Moxie all wrapped up in a pretty bow.

Yesterday, I went to Target on a whim and picked up the newest Decemberists album (after the show, I decided I should complete my collection). There, amidst the maternity section and housewares, the brightly colored packaging of Choxie caught my eye once again. I decided to finally give in. I bought myself an Espresso Truffle Bar, seeing as I love coffee as much as I love chocolate. I didn't previously know that truffle came in bar form, but I guess it does now. It was smooth, melted in your mouth, and the little bits of crunchy espresso beans gave it just the right texture. I will be picking up another flavor soon, even if just for the pretty box it may come in -- I am such a sucker for pretty.

Feeling Decemberists in July, but with no July, July.

Last night, I was lucky enough to venture to the Hollywood bowl to see the Decemberists play with the LA Phil. A band I like, backed with a full orchestra, a venue I love, and picnic time on a breezy summer evening for 20$ (and an overpriced ticketmaster charge)-- how can one say no to that?!
Band of Horses and Andrew Bird opened; the first performance did not maintain my attention for very long, but Andrew Bird was a great new find for me (I had not heard of him until last night, although Kenny and Jaymee had). I especially like that he played in striped socks with no shoes. If they had been solid, it just would not have worked.
The Decemberists have one epic song after another, and fully orchestrated, this aspect of their melodies is in full effect. When the set ended, it felt like we had only just begun. And while I am happy they did not forget to play "Los Angeles, I'm yours", we never heard "The Mariner's Revenge Song" or even "July, July". It is July, after all.
